Follow live coverage as Leicester City face AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League today.
Manchester City are reigning champions after beating Liverpool to the finish line in a neck-and-neck 2021/22 title race where a comeback win on the final day of the season against Aston Villa secured a fourth title in five years for Pep Guardiola's side.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on course for a quadruple last season but were forced to settle for just an FA Cup and Carabao Cup win and will return trying to win the title again just as they did in 2020.
It was a dramatic season for Chelsea a year ago with Roman Abramovich now replaced by Todd Boehly as owner in west London. He will want an instant return on his hefty investment at Stamford Bridge while Tottenham, back in the Champions League, will want to kick on once more too.
It's not all about the action at the top though with Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest promoted to the top tier for 2021/22 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.
We will bring you all the action and updates from today's game in the live blog below:
Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth
Thanks for joining us for live coverage of Bournemouth's 1-0 Premier League victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Goodbye!
Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth
The defeat deepens managerless Leicester's relegation fears, leaving them two points from safety with just eight games left to seal their place in next season's Premier League. Their main worry will be the lack of attacking threat, producing just 0.68 xG (expected goals) despite trailing for the majority of the game. For the Cherries, they have now won four of their last eight and move up to 15th, crucially extending their gap to the bottom three to three points.
Leicester City vs AFC Bournemouth
The referee blows the final whistle, and it is Bournemouth who come out on top in this huge game at the bottom as they take a 1-0 victory! They were the better team for large periods, though it was a Leicester mistake that handed them their winner, with Maddison's shocking backpass allowing Billing to steal in and fire past Iversen. The Cherries spurned a number of great opportunities in a dominant spell after half-time, and positive substitutions from the Foxes gave them more of an attacking threat. O'Neil's men would hold on though, with some stubborn late defending enough to collect three vital points in their fight against the drop.
