A first-half goal from Liam Delap was enough to earn Ipswich their first Premier League point of the season, but they had to share the spoils in a 1-1 home draw with Fulham after winger Adama Traore grabbed an equaliser.

Roared on by an enthusiastic home crowd, Delap put Ipswich ahead in the 15th minute, drifting across the box before lashing in a powerful shot that Fulham keeper Bernd Leno got his gloves to but could not keep out.

The visitors levelled 17 minutes later after Antonee Robinson whipped the ball across the box and Traore stabbed it home with a superb first-time finish to crown Fulham’s best attack of the game.

Both sides struggled to create decent goal-scoring chances in a tough, physical game, and though Omari Hutchinson went close with a stoppage-time shot, neither could find the net again as the game ended in a draw.

Fulham were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United in their season opener, but back at Craven Cottage they saw off Leicester City last week. Marco Silva's men then got the better of Birmingham City in the EFL Cup on Tuesday. Since the start of the 2016-17 Championship season, Fulham have beaten Ipswich in each of their last six contests, including a 3-1 win at Portman Road in last season's League Cup.

After facing two Premier League heavyweights in the first two fixtures of their comeback campaign, Ipswich Town now take on a Fulham side that finished in mid-table last term. Having lost to Liverpool on home turf, the Tractor Boys were blown away at the Etihad, where Erling Haaland helped himself to a hat-trick in a 4-1 defeat. Kieran McKenna's men then exited the EFL Cup on penalties in midweek, being humbled by League Two side AFC Wimbledon.
