From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Scotland will be looking to bounce back against San Marino after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan.
After that shock upset, San Marino will certainly fancy their chances against Alex McLeish's side - despite being the lowest-ranked country in world football and having conceded 37 goals in their last ten matches.
Scotland must now secure a win to keep their hopes of automatically qualifying for Euro 2020 alive.

McLeish makes six changes, then, hoping to refresh things after last week's dismal performance. Liverpool's Andy Robertson captains the team at left back, while Johnny Russell and Ryan Fraser come into the side in attack.
Some pre-match reading. McLeish has promised to put things right against San Marino and get Scotland back on track. They know they can afford no more slip ups. Russia, expected to be Scotland's main challengers for second place in Group I, saw off Kazakhstan with a 4-0 victory earlier today.
Scotland couldn't really have asked for a better game to get back on track. San Marino, according to the FIFA world rankings, are the worst international team in the world. They have not avoided defeat since a 0-0 draw with Estonia in 2014 and concede an average of over four goals per game.
Scotland have a good (if unspectacular) record against them, too, winning 2-0 in each of their three visits to the microstate with a population of just over 33,000.
The teams are out, the national anthems have been sung and we're almost ready to get going in San Marino...
San Marino 0-0 Scotland
2 minutes
Scotland are very nearly in front inside two minutes. Paterson finds space on the right and whips a dangerous cross into the box. The ball goes all the way through to the back post, where it's almost nudged in by a San Marino player.
↵San Marino 0-0 Scotland
3 minutes
McLean, making his first competitive start, goes close with a fiercely struck volley from the edge of the box. Predictably, it's all Scotland in the opening stages.
GOAL! San Marino 0-1 Scotland (McLean)
4 minutes
That didn't take long. Scotland take a short corner and eventually put the ball into the box. McLean is there to glance a header into the bottom corner and put the visitors in control. This could be a long afternoon for San Marino.
