Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Scotland will be looking to bounce back against San Marino after their humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kazakhstan.

After that shock upset, San Marino will certainly fancy their chances against Alex McLeish's side - despite being the lowest-ranked country in world football and having conceded 37 goals in their last ten matches.

Scotland must now secure a win to keep their hopes of automatically qualifying for Euro 2020 alive.

Wales are well on top now having dealt with Slovakia's brief spell of pressure earlier in the half. Bale breaks down the left and whips a superb cross into the middle. It falls to Wilson, who strikes his shot well and draws a strong save from Dubravka.

Wales 1-0 Slovakia

76 minutes

Bale hits a free kick at goal from a long way out - even by his standards - and his effort trickles harmlessly wide of the post.

The visitors, who have lost their last four away games by one goal, look likely to do the same again today. Rusnak hits an audacious shot from distance but it flies high and wide. They look bereft of ideas.

Big chance! Rusnak breaks clear down the right and picks out Duris with a cross. His flicked header is saved by Hennessey but the rebound drops perfectly for Hancko. He looks certain to score. Instead, he swings at the ball and misses it completely. A let off for Wales.

Nervy moments for Wales as Slovakia go close again. A few of the travelling fans think it's in as Pekarik meets Hamsik's cross at the back post. But his effort hits the side netting.
