Welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Wednesday's Group A clash between France and Albania at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

  • Romania looked likely to hold onto a point against hosts France in the opening round of games, only for Dimitri Payet to score a fabulous late winner from long range
  • Switzerland and Granit Xhaka enjoyed victory over Albania and the Arsenal midfielder's brother Taulant
  • Switzerland and Romaina draw 1-1 in early kick-off earlier today in Group A

KICK-OFF: What do you call a Scotsman at Euro 2016? Apart from Aiden McGeady, that is. It's Willie Collum everyone! The SPFL referee blows the whistle in Marseille and Albania get this final match of day six up and underway. Another win for the host nation will see them safely into the last 16. For Albania, surely anything other than a comprehensive defeat would be a bonus.

Another day, another late France showing. The hosts may not have been at their best, but goals against brave Albania in the final seconds by Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet ensured that the hosts - and the favourites - are the first team through to the Last 16.

It seems second spot in Group A will be fought out between Switzerland and Romania after they drew 1-1 in Paris earlier in the day while, in Group B, Slovakia got their campaign up and running after defeating Russia in Lille.

That's all for Wednesday, but I'll be here tomorrow with coverage of three more crucial Euro 2016 games including the big one - Northern Ireland v Ukraine England v Wales. Thanks for reading and goodnight.
