From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Four days on from a strong display in a 0-0 draw against World champions Germany, a Brazil side boasting the likes of Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus failed to break down a resolute England defence.
Fernandinho came closest to settling the contest as the Brazil substitute hit the post in the second-half as Gareth Southgate again opted for an experimental side as he continues his plans for the World Cup.

What have they been saying?
Gareth Southgate on Marcus Rashford: “It's amazing really that he's been a player who's been able to dip under the radar as we think so much of him, not only his ability, but his mentality and his maturity.
“He's a very exciting player, but grounded, wants to improve all the time. For me he's going to be a top player. He has all the attributes of the top players I've worked with, but he's still only 20.
“Quite often we look across at each other in training and raise our eyebrows at some of the things he does. He's a very exciting player."
“Jose (Mourinho) wouldn't mess around, but he picks him in all the big games and is on the field in nearly every game.
“We wanted to look after him last summer as we see him as a big part of our future. He'll score goals... his technique and his finishing ability are tremendous.”
Dani Alves on his team-mate Gabriel Jesus: “I wasn't joking when I called him the new Ronaldo.
“He's already great and will get better. For all that he's done, all that he's achieved, there's no pressure.
“He's doing what he loves.”
Predicted line-ups
England XI: Hart; Maguire, Stones, Cahill; Walker, Livermore, Dier, Loftus-Cheek, Bertrand; Rashford, Vardy
Brazil XI: Alisson; Alves, Marquinhos, Miranda, Marcelo; Casemiro; Coutinho, Paulinho, Augusto, Neymar; Jesus
What are the odds?
England to win: 4/1
Brazil to win: 3/4
Draw: 13/5
78' - Dominic Solanke skips past a couple of Brazil players before drawing a foul and winning a free-kick for England on the edge of the penalty area. Eric Dier takes it but the Spurs midfielder's effort is poor and the ball sails a good few feet wide of Alisson's goal.
81' - Ashley Young makes an instant impact as he gets a crucial block in from Willian's close-range shot after Neymar's through ball. Superb alertness from a player who only came onto the pitch a few seconds ago.
85' - Crucial save. Joe Hart denies Paulinho at the near post after a superb run by Neymar.
89' - Huge chance for England! Ashley Young's cross finds the unmarked Dominic Solanke at the far post but he can't quite sort his feet out before Alisson smothers the ball.
90' - Danny Rose replaces Jake Livermore for England.
Meanwhile, three minutes of additional time have been signalled.
Full-time - England 0-0 Brazil
England have a chance to win it at the death but Tammy Abraham can't quite get on the end of Kyle Walker's low cross for what would've been a tap-in!
The final whistle goes a short time later and it's a second 0-0 draw in a row for England at Wembley. That might not sound like much of an achievement but, given the amount of players Gareth Southgate is missing and taking into consideration the quality of the two opponents, it's pretty damn good.
Stay tuned for reaction from England's players and manager...
Post-match reaction from Joe Hart and Joe Gomez
Joe Hart: "We were playing the best team in the world. They were brilliant. We had a game plan and they made that really hard for us. We had to adapt on the pitch and we did.
"I thought the defence was phenomenal tonight. I can't speak highly enough of Joe's performance. He's played against one of the hottest players in the world and done really, really well against him. It's not a win but it's a great performance and we've played against the two best teams in the world. We didn't win but we didn't lose."
Joe Gomez: "For someone like me it's a great experience to play at this level. Obviously we're happy with the clean sheet. To play in front of the likes of Harty, I think we put in a good shift and we're happy with that.
"It's a great honour to play for England at this level. I've got to try and improve each day and hopefully more opportunities will come."
