Follow live coverage as Fulham face West Ham United in the Premier League today.
Manchester City are reigning champions after beating Liverpool to the finish line in a neck-and-neck 2021/22 title race where a comeback win on the final day of the season against Aston Villa secured a fourth title in five years for Pep Guardiola's side.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on course for a quadruple last season but were forced to settle for just an FA Cup and Carabao Cup win and will return trying to win the title again just as they did in 2020.
It was a dramatic season for Chelsea a year ago with Roman Abramovich now replaced by Todd Boehly as owner in west London. He will want an instant return on his hefty investment at Stamford Bridge while Tottenham, back in the Champions League, will want to kick on once more too.
It's not all about the action at the top though with Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest promoted to the top tier for 2021/22 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.
We will bring you all the action and updates from today's game in the live blog below:
Fulham vs West Ham United
The win takes West Ham up to 13th in the league table and three points above the drop zone while Fulham remain in 10th. The Hammers face Gent in the Europa Conference League before hosting Arsenal in the league. Fulham travel to Everton for their next fixture.
Fulham vs West Ham United
The football produced by both sides in the first half was poor, to say the least. Neither side showed any consistency when going forward or any enthusiasm. Fulham put in cross after cross despite not having much success from any of them while West Ham's counter-attacking style is being defended with ease by the hosts. The visitors did score thanks to an own goal from Reed. Bowen dribbled past Ream and fired the ball into the midfielder, who turned it past Leno as West Ham entered the break 1-0 up. The second period was the same story for Fulham. Their quality of football was not good enough, and the West Ham defenders were able to handle everything thrown at them. The Hammers had the better chances too, with Benrahma and Cornet both missing one-on-ones, but they did enough to secure the one-goal victory.
Fulham vs West Ham United
HUGE CHANCE! Cornet is through on goal for West Ham with no defenders even close to him, but he hits the ball at Leno! Moyes has his hands in his head.
