Pope denies Jimenez from making it 2-0. A long ball over the top had the Mexican through on goal, with Burn misjudging the flight of the pass. Newcastle can count themselves lucky that Jimenez was stretching as he took his shot, and that Pope spread his body expertly to deny the striker.

OFF THE BAR! Fulham almost double their lead in a matter of minutes. Smith-Rowe’s effort bounces off the bar and out for a goal kick, but it looked like it would fly into the top corner. The long range effort from just left of the centre of the penalty area would have been special had it hit the back of the net.

Newcastle thought they had made it 1-0 through Joelinton. The Brazilian had the ball in the net after his first shot was denied by Leno. His shot crashed in off the bar. It was a fine strike but it has been denied by an offside. Willock, who played the ball to Joelinton in the build up was offside as he ran behind the defence.

Isak has been deemed fit to start after he was forced off at half time against Wolves with an eye problem before picking up a foot injury. But the Swede is to play on his birthday, and if he scores he will be the first Newcastle player to score on his birthday since Fabricio Coloccini against Tottenham in January 2011.
