Nuno wants Forest fans to keep believing

Goals from Chris Wood and Morgan Gibbs-White gave Nottingham Forest a 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday to move up to the heady heights of second in the Premier League after another superb performance away from home.

The win gives Forest 37 points after 19 games, five behind leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand and who face West Ham United later on Sunday, and one ahead of third-placed Arsenal, who are not in action again until New Year’s Day.

The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute as Chris Wood nodded a long ball to Anthony Elanga, and the Swedish winger headed it back into his path, teeing Wood up to deftly lift it over the advancing Jordan Pickford and into the net.

Gibbs-White made it two on the hour mark as Wood rescued a broken-down counter-attack by sliding the ball through to him in the penalty area to fire home, and Everton could not find their way back into the game as their four-match unbeaten run came to an end.

Nottingham Forest are heading up to second in the Premier League table as it stands as they lead Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park. It has been a tight contest between the sides with little goal-mouth action. The only shot on target from either side has produced the only goal of the game so far. It was a moment of quality from Chris Wood to lift the ball over Pickford for his 11th goal of the season. The visitors spurned a big chance on the stroke of half-time to double their advantage when Sosa went through on goal and placed his effort wide. Everton's issues in-front of goal continue with no shots on target recorded for the hosts in the first half. They have had an xG of 0.37 compared to an xG of 0.42 for the visitors.

That is a massive chance for Forest to double their lead on the stroke of half-time. It is a brilliant pass from Gibbs-White to find Sosa driving through the middle of the Everton defence. Sosa decides to shoot first-time and places his effort inches wide of the post.

It opens up for Broja on the edge of the penalty area and striker has the time and space to take a shot on goal. However, the effort again doesn't trouble Sels and the visitors get a goal-kick.

Broja thought he had got past Williams but the referee gives Forest a free-kick. It is excellent defending from the Welsh international.

That was an excellent move from the hosts starting from their own throw-in. Doucoure leads the charge forward and plays the ball out wide to Mykolenko who on this occassion can't find a team-mate in the penalty area and the ball goes out of play for a goal-kick.
