Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho scored with a magical overhead kick in the third minute to send the visitors on their way to a 3-0 victory over an Everton team already reeling in their first Premier League game after being docked 10 points.

With a strike that drew comparisons to Wayne Rooney’s famous goal for United in the 2011 Manchester derby, the 19-year-old Argentine leapt acrobatically to meet Diogo Dalot’s cross, firing the ball into the opposite corner past Jordan Pickford before celebrating with a Cristiano Ronaldo-style pirouette.

Erik ten Hag’s United team are sixth in the standings on 24 points after 13 games, while Everton, who were 14th before their points deduction for breaches of the league’s financial rules, are second-bottom on four points.

Marcus Rashford doubled United’s lead with a penalty in the 56th, awarded after VAR ruled Anthony Martial was tripped by Ashley Young. Captain Bruno Fernandes gave the ball to Rashford, who had only scored once this season and not since Sept. 3.

Martial sent hundreds of Everton fans heading to the Goodison Park exits in the 75th minute when he ran onto Fernandes’s pass and dinked it over Pickford for an easy goal.

Everton 0-3 Manchester United

77 mins: OFF THE BAR! Mykolenko has had a number of chances this evening and that’s as close as he’s got so far. It’s a well-struck effort that has the beating of Onana but it rattles of the underside of the crossbar before bouncing clear.

Everton 0-3 Manchester United

76 mins: With that goal, United make another change. Shaw is playing his first game in a while but is brought off early as Wan-Bissaka replaces him.

GOAL! Everton 0-3 Manchester United (Martial, 75 mins)

Martial surely wraps up all three points! His ninth goal against Everton puts United 3-0 ahead and it’s a lovely finish.

Fernandes slides the Frenchman in on goal and it’s a deft chip over Pickford and into the back of the net to get himself on the scoresheet on his return to the starting XI.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

73 mins: A host of changes now as Mainoo and Garnacho make way to huge applause from the United away end. Pellistri and Amrabat come on in their place.

Everton make a double change, too, as McNeil and Young are replaced by Patterson and Danjuma.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

71 mins: CLOSE! So close to a third from United. Rashford surges down the left after a good pass from Lindelof and he does superbly to pick out Garnacho at the back post. The Argentine is at full stretch and can only guide his effort into the side netting.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

68 mins: Another teasing ball in from Everton but Lindelof and Maguire have been solid so far and once again shepherd the ball clear, albeit at the expense of a corner. Onana does well to come through a crowd and get a punch on the cross before claiming it fully on the second attempt.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

66 mins: Another good move from Everton as Harrison is slid through down the right. His ball in is looking for Calvert-Lewin but Maguire does well to get the block in as the loose ball pops up into the hands of Onana.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

64 mins: Mainoo has had an assured game so far and releases Fernandes well down the line. The United captain wins a corner for his side but Garnacho slices well wide after United recycle the ball from the set piece.

Everton 0-2 Manchester United

61 mins: A speculative long-range effort from Mykolenko but it’s skewed well wide of the post. Everton need to make one of these chances stick sooner rather than later.
