From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Real Madrid host Juventus tonight in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with a place in the last four within reaching distance.

Zinedine Zidane’s men, who are looking to win the competition for the fourth time in five seasons, head into the second-leg clash with a 3-0 advantage after their storming victory in Turin last week.

The Spaniards will be without the suspended captain Sergio Ramos for the clash while Paulo Dybalal is unavailable for the visitors.

In the evening’s other quarter-final, Bayern Munich welcome Sevilla to the Allianz Stadium with a 2-1 lead to their name. The Bavarians are aiming to reach a seventh European semi-final in nine years.

66' - Alex Sandro is booked for a late challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo, meaning the Juventus full-back will miss the first leg of the semi-final if Juventus make it there.

69' - Marco Asensio takes aim with a free-kick from 25 yards after a foul on Lucas Vazquez but the Spaniard's effort curls well over the crossbar.

73' - Douglas Costa is booked for a foul on Marco Asensio on the half-way line.

The Brazilian is the fifth Juventus player to go into the referee's book this evening.

75' - Real Madrid have been so disappointing tonight. They've played with such low intensity which, when you think about it, is ludicrous given the magnitude of this match.

There's a Champions League semi-final spot at stake, for goodness' sake!

78' - Great save!

Gigi Buffon again proves his enduring quality as he springs to his right to keep out a deflected 20-yard effort by Isco.

Moments later Raphael Varane almost puts Madrid ahead on aggregate but his close-range effort on the spin flies narrowly wide of Buffon's far post.

81' - Madrid left-back Marcelo goes into the book for a cynical challenge on fellow Brazilian Douglas Costa.

84' - We are just over five minutes away from extra-time at the Bernabeu.

Who would've predicted that at the start of the match? Not me and, let's be honest, not you either.

87' - Chance for Madrid!

Cristiano Ronaldo is found at the far post by Dani Carvajal's looped cross but the Portuguese puts his header over the bar from close range.

That's Ronaldo's best opportunity of the match.
