From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Real Madrid host Juventus tonight in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with a place in the last four within reaching distance.

Zinedine Zidane’s men, who are looking to win the competition for the fourth time in five seasons, head into the second-leg clash with a 3-0 advantage after their storming victory in Turin last week.

The Spaniards will be without the suspended captain Sergio Ramos for the clash while Paulo Dybalal is unavailable for the visitors.

In the evening’s other quarter-final, Bayern Munich welcome Sevilla to the Allianz Stadium with a 2-1 lead to their name. The Bavarians are aiming to reach a seventh European semi-final in nine years.

30' - Mario Mandzukic goes into the book for a late challenge on Dani Carvajal.

30' - Decent effort, that.

Marcelo connects really sweetly with a half-volley from just inside the area but the ball flies just over Gigi Buffon's upright.

That would've been some goal.

34' - Big save!

Cristiano Ronaldo threads Isco in on goal with a pin-point through ball but the Spaniard is thwarted at close range by Gigi Buffon.

That could - and perhaps should - have been game over.

36' - Stephan Lichsteiner is booked for a late challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo.

GOAL! Real Madrid 0-2 Juventus (Mandzukic, 37)

Stephan Lichsteiner's wonderful cross into the box is headed home at the far post by Mario Mandzukic, who is now on a hat-trick!

As things stand, Juve need just one more goal to take this tie to extra-time.

Liam Corless11 April 2018 20:24

40' - Real Madrid look so, so vulnerable at the back without the suspended Sergio Ramos.

There's no leadership whatsoever and Juventus, as you might expect after scoring two first-half goals, are growing in confidence.

Liam Corless11 April 2018 20:27

44' - Juventus are all over Madrid here and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see them grab a third goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo has just had a really weak penalty appeal turned down after a coming-together with Mehdi Benatia.

Referee Michael Oliver was having none of it.

Liam Corless11 April 2018 20:31

45+2' - Woodwork!

Real Madrid almost claw a goal back in first-half stoppage time but Raphael Varane's header from Toni Kroos' free-kick crashes against the crossbar.

Liam Corless11 April 2018 20:33

Half-time - Real Madrid 0-2 Juventus

The referee brings an end to the opening period and Juventus are a goal away from taking this tie to extra-time. Extraordinary!
