Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Paris Saint-Germain have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the past four seasons and Unai Emery will want to continue that trend.
The Spaniard's side have endured a disappointing Ligue 1 campaign so far but their challenging tie against Barcelona this week will come as a much-needed distraction.
With Monaco leading the way domestically, Emery will be hopeful his side can relieve the pressure by getting a positive result on Tuesday evening.
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, meanwhile, is experiencing similar problems. The Catalans are one point behind Real Madrid in the La Liga standings, but their rivals could open up a seven-point gap if they win their two games in hand.
The return of the European football is therefore a welcome one, but this clash of giants is no guaranteed win for Barcelona. PSG have lost just once in their last 42 Champions League home games. That sole defeat came at the hands of Barça, who claimed a 3-1 quarter-final win in April 2015.

It’s a big game for…
Julian Draxler: The 23-year-old attacking midfielder moved to the Ligue 1 champions from Wolfsburg in the January transfer window for a fee of £34million. Since his arrival the Germany international has injected dynamism and enthusiasm into Emery’s side but has not scored since his debut goal against Rennes six games ago. In what will be his Champions League bow for the club, he will be eager to put on an impressive display.
Best stat
PSG have never beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp so will need to take advantage of Tuesday night’s home tie.
Remember when…
PSG's last victory over Barcelona came in their action-packed 3-2 win in a Champions League Group F game in the 2014/15 campaign.
Player to watch…
Edinson Cavani: Cavani is the focal point of PSG's attack and is their main source of goals, netting 31 times this season. The 29-year-old seems to have come into his own since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s summer departure to Manchester United and on Tuesday night, Barcelona will have to be mindful of the Uruguayan poacher.

PSG to win: 47/20
Barcelona to win: 11/9
Draw: 49/20
22 minutes: Shot!
PSG are all over Barcelona here. Cavani has a shot from 25 yards and Ter Stegen does well to stop and catch the ball as it bounces just in front of him.
27 minutes: Chance for Barcelona!
Andre Gomes sees his shot deflected wide by PSG keeper Kevin Trapp. The midfielder found himself in acres of space down the right flank but couldn't quite find the finish. Barca's first chance on goal after a tough start in Paris.
33 minutes: Yellow!
Andre Gomes gets his name in the book for a nasty looking challenge on Julian Draxler.
The game has settled into more of a rhythm now and Barcelona are starting to get their foot on the ball.
34 minutes: Chance for PSG!
Julian Draxler has Sergi Roberto on toast, shimmies onto his left foot and fires one at the near post. Ter Stegen matches him and it's out for a corner.
The ball ricochets around the six-yard box, but Barca hold on. Still 1-0 to the hosts.
GOAL! PSG 2-0 Barcelona (Draxler)
Messi loses the ball in midfield and Barcelona allow Marco Verratti far too much time to pick a pass to Julian Draxler. The German has been the best player on the pitch so far and he caps his performance with a goal, picking the ball up on the right-hand side of the box and smashing it past Ter Stegen into the far corner of the net. It's a deserved 2-0 lead for the hosts.
HALF-TIME: PSG 2-0 Barcelona
It's a deserved two goal lead for the hosts at the break after strikes from Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler. PSG have been much the better side, over-running the Catalans in midfield and carving open a shaky looking defence. In truth, the scoreline could be 3-0 or 4-0. Much to ponder for Luis Enrique at half-time.
47 minutes: Chance for PSG!
The second-half starts much the same way the first finished. PSG are top once more but Rabiot's shot on goal floats past the far post.
49 minutes: Chance for PSG!
Matuidi's centre is headed over by Cavani. Barca have hardly had a touch of the ball so far in this second-half.
GOAL!!! PSG 3-0 Barcelona (Di Maria)
WHAT. A. HIT. Angel Di Maria gets his second of the night and PSG's third. The hosts play it out from the back, the Argentine picks it up 30 yards from goal and with Barcelona's defenders backing off he caresses it into the top corner leaving Ter Stegen grasping at thin air.
