From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Liverpool's immediate Champions League future has come down to an all-or-nothing decider at home to Napoli next month following a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in France.

Jurgen Klopp's side have to beat the Serie A side by more than one goal to ensure progress to the knockout stage having suffered a fourth successive Champions League away defeat - this being the first time they have lost all three away group games.

Juan Bernat and Neymar, whose 31st goal in the competition saw him leapfrog Kaka as the top-scoring Brazilian, put the hosts ahead before James Milner's penalty on the stroke of half-time offered hope.

But despite an improved second-half performance Liverpool could not find an equaliser, leaving themselves with it all do in what is certain to be a highly charged occasion in a fortnight's time.

Re-live all the action below:

13 mins: GOAAALLL! PSG 1-0 LIVERPOOL (Bernat)

Terrible, terrible defending by Liverpool and they've gifted the lead to PSG, currently sending the Reds into 3rd place.

Liverpool fail to clear the ball, Van Dijk particularly susceptible with a sliced clearance and Bernat is allowed time to beat Gomez and scuff his shot beyond the flat-footed Alisson.

Probably a deserved lead.

Liverpool haven't scored away in Europe yet this year.

17 mins: Wijnaldum is booked after hacking down Neymar who goes down like he's been shot.

Free-kick in dangerous position.

18 mins: PSG 1-0 Liverpool

Taken quickly and Alisson just about deals with it.

Bernat and Neymar celebrate as PSG take the lead.

24 mins: PSG 1-0 Liverpool

Late tackle from Marco Veratti on Joe Gomez only results in a yellow card.

Other refs may have been harsher...

Couldn't agree more but pretty impressive for them to be asleep in this noise.

Paris atmosphere is great as their stars control the game, thus far.

28 mins: Spurs 0-0 Inter

Alderweireld is booked for a cynical pull back but Inter are certainly causing problems.

The free-kick is pretty rubbish from Politano, mind you, and Spurs clear.

29 mins: CHANCE! Spurs 0-0 Inter

Sissoko shows a great burst of pace down the right side and plays it to the edge of the box where Son and Lamela lay in wait.

Both players leave it though and Lucas takes a rasping drive on first time but the keeper holds it cleanly.

30 mins: CHANCE! PSG 1-0 Liverpool

PSG continue to probe and Liverpool look in all sorts of trouble.

The French champions are moving through at ease and Neymar feed Mbappe who looks for Cavani in the middle.

Alisson makes a crucial interception or it was surely going to be two.

Nathan Jacobs28 November 2018 20:31

34 mins: PSG 1-0 Liverpool

Joe Gomez is the latest to go into the book for a cynical foul on Neymar, pulling him back.
