27 min: Feyenoord sing 'You'll Never Walk Alone', Old Trafford roundly boos.

Mark Critchley24 November 2016 20:33

31 min: Pogba dinks a ball into the area, Mkhitaryan gets onto it but Jones is there to smother.

Another lovely move though, as long as you ignore the linesman flagging for offside.

GOAL! Manchester United 1 Feyenoord 0 (Rooney)

The captain gets his first Old Trafford goal of the season. He chips home from close range after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had waited an age to play his skipper through.

Some questions of offside but the officials weren't interested. 1-0.

40 min: Judging by replays, Rooney is probably just on, but it's hard to call. No matter anyway, it counts.

Mark Critchley24 November 2016 20:47

45 min: Heart in the mouth moment for Rick Karsdorp, Feyenoord's right-back, who plays a pass across his own box to find nobody there but Ibrahimovic.

The ball just outruns the Swedish striker and one of the right-back's Feyenoord teammates clears.

H/T: Manchester United 1 Feyenoord 0

The half-time whistle sounds, United are ahead. A dominant first half, with only one real moment of danger for the hosts. It's been comfortable, by and large.

As things stand, Jose Moruinho's men will only need a draw in Odessa to qualify.

Rooney is now United's all-time leading goalscorer in European competition, with 39.

He's also just one away from Sir Bobby Charlton's overall record.

46 min: We're back under way at Old Trafford.

Rooney's slipped through by Pogba, who has been very good so far, but it has just a little too much on it.

Mark Critchley24 November 2016 21:10

48 min: Ibrahimovic chests the ball down in the box, swipes at it but sees his shot blocked.

The rebound falls to Shaw who then finds Mkhitaryan, but another blue shirt gets in front of his strike on goal.

Mark Critchley24 November 2016 21:12

50 min: Another intelligent run from Mkhitaryan sends him through on goal but he has several defenders on his shoulder.

One cuts across him and appears to bring him down, but the referee gives nothing.

Mourinho looks exasperated on the touchline. If he's disappointed with that, he should at least be cheered by how well the Armenian is playing.
