It had been 15-and-a-half years since the most decorated sides from England and Italy last met in a competitive fixture, but anyone watching Tuesday's Old Trafford encounter will be under no illusion who is now in the better health.
Juventus toyed with United at times as Ronaldo enjoyed a winning return to his old stomping ground, with his cross leading to Paulo Dybala's goal on an evening that sometimes threatened to be far worse worse than the eventual 1-0 scoreline.

Manchester United 0-1 Juventus
It's getting lively at Old Trafford. United are enjoying a rare spell of pressure and the fans are responding. They need to be wary, though, of Dybala's threat on the break. Some clever defending from Lindelof was required to block a dangerous cut back.
GOAL FOR CITY!
City are running away with the game. They double their lead and it's Laporte who gets it, heading home from a corner.

Dybala has been at the centre of everything tonight. He comes close again, collecting the ball on the edge of the box, shifting it on to his left foot and curling an effort wide of the far post.
Half time
Shakhtar Donetsk 0-2 Manchester City
City go into the break with a comfortable lead. Guardiola will, no doubt, be pleased with what he's seen.

Manchester United 0-1 Juventus
And that's it for the first half at Old Trafford, too. Juventus have been the side on top, and United will be thankful the lead is still a narrow one.
Elsewhere
Hoffenheim are level at 1-1 with Lyon in Group F's other game. It's a scoreline that will please City, who will move four points clear in second place if things stay as they are.
Back underway
We're back underway in Ukraine and at Old Trafford. Can City hold on to their lead, and can United turn things around?
