From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Manchester City must overturn a 3-0 deficit in the Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool or risk yet another European failure under Pep Guardiola, after enduring one of their worst week’s since the manager took over last season.
Having been roundly blown away by Liverpool in last week’s first leg, City then managed to lose the Manchester derby 3-2 against fierce rivals United, despite taking an early 2-0 lead, to prevent them from securing the Premier League title. With their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread, another defeat tonight at the Etihad Stadium will raise serious concerns about this current side.
Liverpool will need to prove that they can recreate the type of performance that decimated City last week away from Anfield though, with Jürgen Klopp’s side facing their own test after securing such an impressive victory. With doubts over star player Mohamed Salah’s fitness, Klopp will hope to see a defensive shutout to guarantee Liverpool’s progression to the semi-finals for the first time since 2008.

Well, to say that Pep Guardiola has gone with an attacking team tonight would be an understatement.
The Spaniard has opted for a back three, with David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus all starting further forward for City.
For Liverpool, it's almost the same team that blew the Premier League leaders away at Anfield last week, but with Gini Wijnaldum starting in place of the suspended Jordan Henderson.
