From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Mohamed Salah scored a solo goal and Alisson produced a crucial late save as Liverpool fc beat Napoli 1-0 to clinch a place in the Champions League's knockout stage at the expense of the Italian side.
Salah shrugged off one defender, drifted past another with a superb feint, and delivered a low finish inside the near post from an acute angle for the winning goal in the 34th minute.
Liverpool came into the game knowing a 1-0 victory, or any other win by a two-goal margin, would guarantee a spot in the round of 16 as the English team looks to go one better than last season.
Paris Saint-Germain, who won 4-1 at Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, advanced as Group C winner, and Napoli had to settle for third place and dropping into the Europa League for the second straight season.
It would have been Liverpool missing out had Alisson not produced a reflex save to deny Arkadiusz Milik in the second minute of stoppage time. Re-live the action below:
GOALS IN BELGRADE AND MILAN
Good news for Spurs fans - PSV have taking the lead through Hirving Lozano.
Bad news for Liverpool fans - Edinson Cavani has given PSG an early advantage.
So as things stand, Spurs are going through and Liverpool going out.
Barcelona 1-0 Tottenham, 17 minutes
Despite their much-changed team, Barcelona are still on top and look the likelier scorers of the next goal.
Spurs are struggling to get their influencers on the ball. Christian Eriksen has been particularly quiet thus far.
Liverpool 0-0 Napoli, 18 minutes
Chance for Liverpool to swing in something meaningful after Mohamed Salah wins a free kick in the right corner...
It is a poor delivery from James Milner, and Jordan Henderson's low ball back in finds only Napoli blue.
Barcelona 1-0 Tottenham, 21 minutes
Danny Rose goes in rather agriculturally on Nelson Semedo, escaping a caution but conceding a free kick in a perilous position.
Fortunately, Harry Kane rises highest to meet the cross to head away. That is arguably Kane's most prominent touch so far, however, and that will concern Mauricio Pochettino, even if events in Milan mean Spurs are currently going through.
Liverpool 0-0 Napoli, 22 minutes
Liverpool have the ball in the net, but Sadio Mane is offside.
Mohamed Salah recovers Georginio Wijnaldum's mishit shot and feeds Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right back finds Mane with a diagonal low cross, but he is at least a yard-and-a-half offside and his celebrations are quickly halted.
Virgil Van Djik was horrified at the referee's decision to caution him for this challenge on Dries Mertens.
Barcelona 1-0 Tottenham, 26 minutes
Barcelona are controlling things in midfield.
Carles Alena is very much of the Spanish midfield mould with his diminutive figure and competence in possession, and the youngster has been particularly impressive in the first 25 minutes.
Liverpool 0-0 Napoli, 27 minutes
Kalidou Koulibaly is some centre half.
The Senegalese international has made several outstanding tackles so far, and for a man of considerable size is certainly fleet of foot.
Mohamed Salah is getting little joy.
Barcelona 1-0 Tottenham, 30 minutes
Spurs' best move so far.
Danny Rose's cross just eludes Heung-min Son sliding past the penalty spot after a nice phase of passing worked space for the left back.
Barcelona 1-0 Tottenham, 32 minutes
A nasty lunge on Christian Eriksen from Thomas Vermaelen is rather high, and the experienced Belgian is fortunate to avoid further punishment than just a free kick, which Harry Kane wastes, firing against the wall.
And now Spurs should score! Heung-min Son breaks clear from Vermaelen after a well-weighted pass by Eriksen, but can't beat Jasper Cillessen. The goalkeeper stays big for as long as possible and manages to get his left toe to Son's goal bound effort.
Tottenham could be level.
