From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tuesday’s Champions League results:
Juventus 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
5' - Liverpool are yet to really get a foothold in the game. Porto have certainly had the better of the early stages.
9' - Huge chance for Porto!
The ball breaks to Otavia 12 yards from goal and he lets fly... only to see his effort blocked behind for a corner by Dejan Lovren.
Liverpool are living dangerously here.
12' - Andy Robertson has Liverpool's first attempt of the game but his 20-yard effort sails harmlessly over the crossbar.
18' - Trent Alexander-Arnold is having a good game at right-back for Liverpool. He's dealt with a couple of dangerous runs by Porto attacker Yacine Brahimi in the early stages.
The Reds are yet to offer too much in an attacking sense, though.
20' - Chance for Liverpool!
Roberto Firmino threads Mo Salah in on goal but the Egyptian, on his unfavoured right foot, opts against shooting and instead looks for Sadio Mane at the far post. Porto defender Diego Reyes gets back well though and puts the ball behind for a corner, which comes to nothing for the visitors.
GOAL! Porto 0-1 Liverpool (Mane)
25' - Liverpool take the lead and it's Sadio Mane with the goal, as his shot from 15 yards squeezes under the body of Jose Sa and into the back of the net.
The goalkeeper will be disappointed with that one.
