Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Lucas Moura's dramatic late goal sent Tottenham through to the Champions League knockout stages by earning a 1-1 draw at Barcelona.
Spurs, who had to match Inter Milan's result against PSV Eindhoven, were heading out of the competition and into the Europa League for the second time in three seasons as they trailed to Ousmane Demebele's early goal for most of the game and the Italians came from behind to level.
But, having missed chance after chance at the Nou Camp, Moura finally came to Spurs' rescue as he converted Harry Kane's cross with five minutes remaining.
It was the least they deserved as only an inspired performance from Barca number two Jasper Cillessen protected his side's five-year unbeaten run at home in European football, although ultimately they will be grateful to PSV for their favour in Italy. Re-live the live action below:
If you'd prefer those team sheets in text form, your wish is my command, starting with Barcelona vs Tottenham:
Barcelona: Jasper Cillessen, Nelson Semedo, Thomas Vermaelen, Clement Lenglet, Juan Miranda, Ivan Rakitic, Carles Alena, Phillipe Coutinho, Arthur, Munir, Ousmane Dembele.
Spurs: Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker-Peters, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Heung-min Son, Harry Kane.
And here are the Liverpool-Napoli teams in text:
Liverpool: Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil Van Djik, Andrew Robertson, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane
Napoli: David Ospina, Nikola Maksimovic, Raul Albiol, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mario Rui, Jose Callejon, Allan, Marek Hamsik, Fabian Ruiz, Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne
So no Lionel Messi, no Luis Suarez and a much-changed defence for Barcelona, including a left back making his Champions League debut at the tender age of 18.
That might send some confidence through the Tottenham team. Kick off is less than an hour away.
For a snazzier guide to the permutations for Liverpool tonight, The Independent's Northern Football Correspondent Mark Critchley has explored them for you:
It is a big night for Kyle Walker-Peters, just 21, starting at right back in the Champions League at the Camp Nou. Walker-Peters was born within a couple of miles of White Hart Lane in Edmonton, and the England Under-21 international is highly rated by Spurs, though his opportunities have been limited by Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.
Just about 15 minutes until kick off in Barcelona and at Anfield.
Liverpool live for nights like this under the lights, while Spurs may never have another chance as opportune as this to win at the Nou Camp.
Can both qualify for the knockout stages?
The players are in the tunnel.
"You'll Never Walk Alone" never sounds better than on a weekday evening.
It's almost time for the Champions League.
