From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Europa League group stage draw has been completed with Liverpool, Brighton, West Ham, who won the Europa Conference League last year, and Rangers discovering their opponents.

Liverpool are the bookies' favourites, but Brighton are next up alongside Jose Mourinho's Roma, who recently bought Romelu Lukaku to boost their chances. Atalanta, Marseille and Villarreal are also contenders.

Here is John O’Shea, fittingly attired in an emerald tie, to offer an Irish perspective on this year’s final venue.

“It’s very unique,” O’Shea describes of the Aviva Stadium. “There’ll be almost 50,000 screaming fans packed into Dublin. It’s an amazing stadium and it will be a special occasion.

O’Shea, reluctantly, tips Liverpool as “one of the favourites”, and Brighton to “surprise a few teams.”

Captain of Sevilla then was the much missed Jose Antonio Reyes, who passed away in a car crash in 2019 at the age of 35. “Jose was a leader, and sharing the same dressing room was unbelievable,” Mbia remembers of Reyes. “He was humble and he was crazy - it’s difficult to have lost him.”
