Manchester United drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening, as a dominant performance failed to ease the pressure on Erik ten Hag

The away side dominated the first half, taking the lion’s share of possession but only managing to hit the woodwork twice after a great effort from Alejandro Garnacho and a rebound from Bruno Fernandes.

The second half began in much the same manner, with United keeping control but not managing to capitalise on it.

Palace grew into the game after making substitutions, while United’s changes took away their momentum, and the home side begun to create chances, with Eberechi Eze firing wide and Eddie Nketiah and Ismaila Sarr forcing a brilliant double save from Andre Onana.

The game petered out in the final stages as Palace looked to settle for a point and United struggled to regain any attacking rhythm, and in the end it was a familiar sight for Erik ten Hag as his side earned just one point in a fixture they probably should’ve won.

In truth, United simply look a lot less threatening in attack without Zirkzee, which is interesting. Hojluind hasn’t offered the same linking play or a general goal threat.

Palace counter and Schlupp spreads it wide to Mitchell, but United clear. Palace come again and Mitchell’s cross is better this time, with Sarr forcing a good block from de Ligt.

From the corner, Onana does well to punch out.

Hojlund tries to clip in a cross from the left but he’s closed down well, and United come again. Fernandes tries the early cross, but Guehi does very well to deal with it calmly.

It’s all a bit pedestrian from United at the moment, with very few options or runs in attack. They’ve given it away almost straight away on the last two occasions that they’ve tried to venture into the Palace half.

Palace ship it wide to Sarr, but the ball into the area is poor and United clear.

Hojlund’s first touch is a terrible one as Fernandes zipped a pass in, and the chance goes begging. United haven’t had a meaningful attack over the last 10 minutes.

Ugarte concedes a foul and Eze will have the chance to deliver a dangerous set-piece.

Dalot slips to allow Munoz some space on the right, and his cross makes its way to Hughes who powers his own cross straight into the gloves of Onana.

United will be hoping that bringing on Hojlund restores the attacking links that they managed to show at times when Zirkzee was on.

The away side come forward and Rashford tries to clip the ball in behind the defence for Hojlund, but it’s a wayward attempt.
