Crystal Palace vs Leicester City LIVE: Premier League result, final score and reaction

Follow live coverage as Crystal Palace face Leicester City in the Premier League today.
Manchester City are reigning champions after beating Liverpool to the finish line in a neck-and-neck 2021/22 title race where a comeback win on the final day of the season against Aston Villa secured a fourth title in five years for Pep Guardiola's side.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds were on course for a quadruple last season but were forced to settle for just an FA Cup and Carabao Cup win and will return trying to win the title again just as they did in 2020.
It was a dramatic season for Chelsea a year ago with Roman Abramovich now replaced by Todd Boehly as owner in west London. He will want an instant return on his hefty investment at Stamford Bridge while Tottenham, back in the Champions League, will want to kick on once more too.
It's not all about the action at the top though with Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest promoted to the top tier for 2021/22 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.
We will bring you all the action and updates from today's game in the live blog below:

Crystal Palace vs Leicester City
A first win of the calendar year consolidates Palace's place of the nine-strong pack of teams at the bottom of the table. With 'mid-table' no longer a concept in the 2022-23 Premier League, the Eagles are now at least two points clear of all the chasing pack, with them and nearest side Wolves having played at least one game more than all the sides below them. Leicester's woes continue though, with their fifth defeat in six seeing the Foxes drop into the bottom three, where they sit 18th, now five points behind Palace in 12th.

Three of Eberechi Eze's five shots were on target, with his only effort to hit the woodwork directly producing Palace's equaliser. The Eagles playmaker completed 20 final-third passes, creating three big chances, and was also successful in 10 of his 15 duels, winning possession eight times, making three tackles and an interception, as well as winning four free-kicks, including one for the aforementioned equaliser. Easy.

The full-time whistle goes, as Palace confirm their first victory of 2023! Mateta's late winner was just reward for the Eagles, who dominated large periods in Roy Hodgson's first game back in charge at Selhurst Park. Their total control of the first-half came without scoring, and Leicester made them pay by going 1-0 up through substitute Pereira's thunderous strike. Palace levelled almost immediately though, with the superb Eze's free-kick bouncing goalwards off the back of Foxes goalkeeper Iversen, and after trading efforts for the rest of the half, Eagles super-sub Mateta latched onto an excellent ball from Ayew to notch the winner in the last reaches of added time.
