The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Crystal Palace vs Chelsea

Jeers ring around Selhurst Park as Chelsea make it 13 straight wins against Palace in the Premier League with a 3-1 comeback triumph. Pochettino’s side were woeful in the first half, sloppy in possession and eventually punished when Lerma rocketed in his 30th-minute opener that was also his first goal for the club. Sending on Nkunku at the break, the Blues immediately responded as former Eagles loanee Gallagher swept home from Gusto’s right-wing centre. This London derby seemed destined for a point apiece as the game wore on, only for Gallagher to double his account and make it 2-1 with a 92nd-minute finish from Palmer’s cutback pass. Palmer would add his second assist just minutes later, breaking away on the counter-attack before rolling through for Fernandez to coolly beat Henderson. It is a cruel blow for Hodgson’s side, who are 15th and just five points clear of 18th-placed Everton – who Palace face on Monday. Chelsea sit 10th in the league table before visiting Manchester City on Saturday. Until then, Gallagher will be the toast of the blue side of west London. That is all we have time for here, until next time – goodbye for now!

Out of his 15 Premier League strikes, 12 of Gallagher's top-flight goals have either drawn his side level (four) or put them one goal in the lead (eight). The Blues midfielder has also scored more top-flight goals against Palace (four) than he has against any other team. What a time to step up!

SAVE! Fernandez goes down and wins a free-kick after Ayew's late challenge from behind. The Argentina midfielder fails to find a team-mate inside the area, though Sterling keeps it alive with a left-wing cross. Disasi rises the highest but heads straight at Henderson from close range.

Chelsea have won four of their last six Premier League London derbies (D1 L1), including each of their last three, having failed to win six on the bounce prior to this run. However, the Blues need a late salvaging act to steal all three points here.
