Wilfried Zaha emphasised his importance to Crystal Palace ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline but his side had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Brentford following Yoane Wissa’s late equaliser.
Talisman Zaha, who is reportedly a target for Chelsea and Arsenal before the window closes, looked to have earned Palace a slender win with a stunning second-half opener.
But the battling Bees snatched a share of the spoils against their London rivals thanks to unmarked substitute Wissa heading home two minutes from time.
Thomas Frank’s visitors very nearly left Selhurst Park with all three points as Rico Henry then squandered a golden opportunity in stoppage time before Ben Mee headed against the crossbar.
Michael Olise hit a post for the Eagles ahead of Zaha’s 59th-minute opener, while many of Brentford’s earlier forays forward were undermined by a lack of cutting edge.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford
The draw means both teams rise in the Premier League table for now, Brentford to ninth and Palace to 13th. Brentford will of course be pleased with the result, but Palace will be gutted not to have won this. They've dropped seven points from winning positions already this season. Vieira will want his men to tighten up.

This London derby ends in a score draw! After a slow start, it looked like the match would be decided by Zaha's moment of brilliance around the hour mark. Brentford had other ideas, making some proactive changes and equalising late on through their substitute Wissa. The Bees could even have grabbed all three points had Mee's injury-time header not hit the woodwork.

Brentford nearly steal the win at the death! Guaita gets down low to stop Henry's shot from finding the bottom left corner. Frank's men get a corner instead. It comes in and Mee's header crashes against the corner of post and bar! Palace would have been devastated had that gone in. Instead, they hook the ball away and breathe a huge sigh of relief.
