Follow live coverage as Chelsea face Manchester City today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Chelsea vs Manchester City

Manchester City's latest Premier League title defence is quickly into it's stride with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Although they had an xG of 0.82 compared to their opponents' 1.23, Pep Guardiola's side broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, as Erling Haaland marked his 100th appearance for the club with a neat finish. Nicolas Jackson was denied an equaliser by the offside flag just before the break, before City wrapped up the points six minutes from time through former Blues midfielder Mateo Kovacic's long-range effort. Stretching their unbeaten league run to 24 matches, the Citizens will look to extend that when they host newly promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday. Meanwhile, Chelsea turn their attention to Europe in midweek, as they face Servette in the first leg of their Europa Conference League play-off. That's all for today, thank you for joining us. Until next time, goodbye!
