Burnley showed a lot of quality in possession but failed to create many meaningful chances after their early goal. Amdouni looked to get the hosts back in the lead with a strike from outside the box, but it whistled wide. As for Tottenham, they have been the better side after a slow start. Maddison took his time to get involved but has been a crucial part of their attack and has done brilliantly to link the midfield with the attack. Solomon has also caused a lot of problems with his pace and has constantly forced Roberts back.

Tottenham conceded inside four minutes but have the lead after a thunderous strike from Romero. Foster gave Burnley the lead with his second goal of the season, getting on the end of a pass from Koleosho and poking his shot into the net. However, their lead lasted just 12 minutes. Son was unleashed on the break by Porro, with the Spurs captain playing a quick one-two with Solomon before chipping his attempt over Trafford. Maddison had a shot saved by the goalkeeper before Romeo struck late in the half. The centre-back made the most of a poor clearance on the edge of the box and powered his strike into the top corner. There was a short VAR check for offside, but the goal stood.
