Perhaps most concerning for De Zerbi at the interval is that his team have had 83.9 per cent of the ball so far, and yet they have registered just two shots on target. Moyes' side look happy to sit back and dare Brighton to break them down, something the Seagulls failed to do in the opening 45 minutes.

They have been under pressure for much of the half but have also looked a threat on the break, with Antonio causing issues in the Brighton defence. It was his determination that helped them to get their noses in front, harrying Webster and nipping the ball off him before squaring to Ward-Prowse. The former Southampton man saw his first attempt blocked but made no mistake with his second, stroking home to give the Hammers a one-goal advantage, a lead they maintain at the break thanks to a dogged defensive display to this point.
