Brentford vs Aston Villa
The first half was evenly contested as both goalkeepers pulled off good saves to keep the scoreline level. Raya was called into action early on to tip Buendia's shot around the post, while Martinez made a good stop from point-blank range to keep Toney out. The Bees did look more likely to score, but Villa were threatening every time they were on the counter-attack. Brentford dominated the majority of the second half and took a deserved lead in the 65th minute as Toney tapped home a cross from Mbeumo. They tried to push for a second but slowly retreated back to their own goal in order to protect their lead. The game then got scrappy as Villa look for an equaliser, and the visitors got what they wanted. Luiz scored in the 87th after Mee failed to clear the ball. Both sides then went for a winner, but the match finished 1-1.
