Follow live coverage as AFC Bournemouth face Southampton today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Bournemouth go into the break with an emphatic 3-0 lead over struggling Southampton at the Vitality Stadium. The Saints looked the more threatening in the early stages of the game, but it's all gone downhill since then. Iraola's side opened the scoring thanks to a quick free-kick from Tavernier which landed on the foot of Evanilson, who fired into the back of the net on the volley. Shortly after, Cook struck from the edge of the penalty area, and it deflected off Ouattara and crept into the corner beyond Ramsdale. Things went from bad to worse for the Saints as Semenyo toyed with their defence, cutting onto his right foot before unleashing a powerful effort into the corner. Martin's side have it all to do in the second half.

Southampton now have a chance as they win a throw-in deep inside the Bournemouth half. Sugawara finds Cornet, but he flings himself to the ground as it goes behind for a goal-kick. Martin's side have looked toothless in attack for the majority of the half.
