Travis Head scored a unbeaten 154 and Marnus Labuschagne contributed 77 as Australia successfully chased down a formidable 316-run target to beat England by seven wickets in the first of their five-match One Day International Series at Trent Bridge.
Australia reached 317-3 with six overs to spare after bowling England out for 315 in 49.4 overs.
It was a 13th successive ODI win for last year’s World Cup winners, and sixth in a row over England, despite being forced to field a depleted line-up because of illness in their camp and injury.
Head’s highest ODI score, coming off 129 balls with 20 fours and five sixes, was ably supported by Labuschagne, who earlier had also proven key in restricting England’s strong start to the contest.

Head swivels to hit the six before Livingstone comes close with a delivery that bounces into the hands of the ‘keeper.
Dot balls for the rest of the over, and Jacob Bethell is next to step up with the ball.
Australia 127-2 (21) Head 68, Green 12, Rashid 0-22 (5)
Rashid up next, looking for Test wicket number 200. Just two runs conceded, with four dot balls.
Australia 125-2 (20) Head 67, Green 11, Livingstone 1-14 (3)
Livingstone looks for his second wicket of the day, and he’s close with the second ball as it hits the inside edge and bounces off the foot of Head.
A couple of singles follow for Green and Head, before Green is taken! The Aussie opts for the review though.
Livingstone’s delivery bounces off Green’s foot, but did he make contact with the bat before it bounced into the hands? He didn’t.
Hawkeye takes a look to see if it’s lbw, but it looks like it’s missing off-stump, and it was. Not out.

Rashid’s first ball is a stray one but Duckett saves it from the boundary. His second isn’t much better, bouncing just short of the boundary for a four after Head sweeps it back towards him.
There’s half a shout for lbw before the over finishes with a couple of singles.

An uneventful over from Livingstone as he’s hit for a couple of singles before finishing strongly.
Time for a drinks break.

Slightly over-pitched from Rashid and it’s fired right back over his head for six by Head.
On the third ball, Archer spills an easy collection to hand Australia two runs, before Head closes outnthe over with an other single.
Australia 102-2 (16) Head 51, Green 5, Livingstone 1-10 (1)
Cameron Green steps into the crease and hits Livongstone for four to settle himself on the first ball, and Australia take two more runs to get to 102-2.
Australia 96-2 (15) Head 50, Smith 32 c&b, Livingstone 1-5 (1)
Liam Livingstone steps up to take the ball, and two good pieces of fielding prevent him from conceding two fours in his first two deliveries.
But out nowhere, the delivery to Smith is on the outside edge, high on the bat, and it’s clipped straight into the hands of Livingstone!
Smith goes for 32.
Australia 92-1 (15) Head 50, Smith 28, Rashid 0-2 (2)
That was Head’s 17th ODI 50 in just 66 matches.
Rashid’s second ball of the over brings a brief shout for lbw on Smith, but England decide not to review. It looked close!
Just one from his second over too.
Australia 91-1 (14) Head 50, Smith 27, Jacks 0-10 (3)
Head hits a low drive past mid-wicket for a four, to end a brief period of frustration. He raises both arms accordingly.
He’s got another four soon enough, reaching for the back-cut that outruns Carse, and that brings up his half-century.
Smith comes out of the over with a couple of singles.
