This weekend sees the mercurial Tyson Fury take on heavy underdog Otto Wallin in Las Vegas as Fury continues his comeback to the sport.
Fury has previous in Sin City, having previously knocked out Tom Schwartz in June of this year.
Wallin goes in to the fight as a huge underdog, but boasts an impressive 20 wins from 21 fights (1 no contest) with 13 KOs, and is ranked number 4 by the WBA in their heavyweight rankings.
We have seen a British heavyweight succumb to a shock loss in recent history, but Fury has insisted that he “won’t underestimate anybody” ahead of the fight.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of the heavyweight bout.
When is the fight?
The fight is billed as Saturday, September 14 but UK viewers will have to stay up or set alarms for the early hours of Sunday morning, with the ring walks not expected until approximately 4am.
How can I watch it?
BT Sport will be showing the fight on BT Sport Box Office, with the fight available for purchase for £19.95 on BT TV, Virgin TV and Sky TV.
You can also purchase the fight on BT’s website and live stream the fight on mobile or PC.
Their coverage of the fight begins at 2am.
What are the odds?
- Fury 1/33
- Draw 50/1
- Wallin 16/1
Our Prediction
Despite Wallin’s stellar record and ranking, he is not expected to pull up any trees as the Swede lacks experience at the peak of the division. Fury is unlikely to toy with a lesser opponent - he knocked out Schwartz in round 2 - so this fight should be over inside the first five rounds.
Who’s on the undercard?
- Emanuel Navarrete vs Juan Miguel Elorde
- Jose Pedraza vs Jose Zepeda
- Isaac Lowe vs Ruben Garcia Hernandez
- Felix Valera vs Vyascheslav Shabranskyy
- Carlos Cuadras vs Jose Maria Cardenas
- Gabriel Flores Jr vs Miguel Angel Perez Aispuro
- Isidro Ochoa vs Iskander Kharsan
- Guido Vianello vs Cassius Anderson
- Abram Martinez vs Kevin Johnson
Wow, at the end of the round, Wallin raked Fury's face with his glove right where his cut is. He is told off by the referee.
Round seven: Fury 69-64 Wallin
Fury wants the knockout. Fewer jabs in that round and much more power punches with the right hand.
Wallin had such a strong start to the fight that he now looks fatigued, Fury looks fit as ever.
Round eight: Fury 79-73 Wallin
Something you don't see happen often is Fury get in close, with his reach advantage he usually keeps his distance. He knows the cut is a big issue.
Luckily for him, Wallin has basically nothing left and is a standing target. Another 10-9 round to Fury.
Round nine: Fury 89-82 Wallin
Wallin has begun to throw again but he's not landing with any power or ferocity, while Fury keeps landing power punches and looks like he could take the Swede out at any moment.
Round 10: Fury 99-91 Wallin
The best round of the fight for Fury, who almost takes Wallin out after a mix of unanswered body and head shots.
Outside of the cut, this has been so dominant from Fury, but Wallin is proving a tough cookie and sees the 11th.
Round 11: Fury 109-100 Wallin
Fury is using his size to his advantage here, walking Wallin down and putting his huge body on him, tiring him out more and more. He's throwing a lot of short left and right hands, somehow Wallin makes it to the 12th and final round!
Round 12: Fury 118-110
Fury is hurt! Wallin lands a pot shot and Fury, for the first time of the night is backing up, tired and holding.
That cut is absolutely horrible, fighting for that many rounds with something like that blocking your vision is extremely impressive.
Wallin on the other hand, a valiant challenger. He had a couple of really strong rounds in there and he might not have upset the odds, but Wallin certainly gave Fury the war he was looking for.
What a fight.
