At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. The pair both have reputations as two of the most exciting and eccentric men in boxing – and so it proved in today’s presser, with the two coming close to blows before the event was abandoned by promoter Frank Warren.
Here's how their extraordinary press conference played out:
Latest news:
After violently dispatching all 39 men he has ever shared a professional ring with, Deontay Wilder admits the devastating power with which he punches is starting to scare even him.
And that is why the WBC champion believes Tyson Fury will be fearful by the time they finally step through the ropes at the Staples Center, Los Angeles on December 1.
All but one of Wilder's 40 victories have come inside the distance and Bermane Stiverne, the only opponent to make it through 12 rounds, was ruthlessly taken out in the first round of their 2017 rematch.
But Wilder's next assignment could be the toughest of the lot with undefeated Fury considered one of the most awkward and hard-to-hit heavyweight movers on the planet. The pair come nose-to-nose today at Stratford's Olympic Park as they kick off the three-city press tour to publicise their intriguing winter tussle.

Tyson has already been active on social media this morning...
And it's fair to say he's looking forward to the fight:
Okay where to start. The pair have only just appeared on stage and the pleasantries have already flown out the window.
"YOU BIG DOSSER!" screams Fury. Wilder responds by telling him he's a much fiercer opponent that Wlad Klitschko.
Fury: "I always prove people wrong. Deontay Wilder is living on a hope and prayer. I'm back and better than ever. He's banking on me only having two fights in three years, otherwise he would not have taken this fight."
Wilder: "I would get no gratification from that. I want you to be ready."
Wilder: "Have you ever looked into the eyes of a killer?"
Fury: "Plenty of them. I'm looking at a pussycat. Killers don't dress like you. You're all mouth and no action. All front and no substance. A big hollow shell in a big frame."
Anthony Joshua is taking a pasting here. Shelly Finkel is now on the mic, thanking Tyson Fury for taking the fight that Joshua supposedly ducked. "He was offered a fortune to fight but didn't want to know," Finkel says.
Frank Warren is getting in on the act. "Tyson wanted this fight. There was no backroom arguing. Fury is travelling into his backyard like he did against Klitschko, to take the titles away from Deontay."
