Odds
Prograis: 8/11
Taylor: 5/4
Draw: 20/1
Prediction
This should be a fascinating battle between two elite fighters, who set up in the southpaw stance. Both have power and the ability to work off the back foot or take the initiative.
This one could go the distance and Taylor may edge it due to the home crowd advantage, his bodywork ought to be key in a razor thin decision.
Round five: Prograis 47-48 Taylor
Taylor lands to the chin of Prograis and it makes him take a slight step back for the first time of the evening.
Whenever one lands, the other shrugs it off and has a response. Very happy to not be an officiating judge this evening. Taylor round.
Round six: Prograis 56-58 Taylor
Taylor is throwing his punches with real weight now and for once, we have a clear round winner. Prograis looked almost stunned at one point after a good left hand to the chin.
This is going to be very, very interesting!
Round seven: Prograis 65-68 Taylor
Another great round of boxing!
Taylor has bloodied the nose of Prograis, who almost tries to wipe his face and wake himself up.
The defence of Prograis is really lacking and is being exploited big time here. He lands a few of his own but not enough to take the round.
Round eight: Prograis 74-78 Taylor
Taylor is constantly waking his opponent down and it’s now Prograis who’s sat back and inviting the punches on. The American still lands some of his own on the back foot but it seems he is losing a grip on the fight as we head into the championship rounds.
Prograis landed a really nice straight right hand but his punches are only coming in bunches, Taylor’s are far more consistent.
What was Prograis’ most effective punch, the uppercut, has sparingly been thrown since the early stages of the fight.
It feels key if he wants to find himself back in with a chance.
Round nine: Prograis 83-88 Taylor
Taylor is sinking some really heavy body shots and the crowd are reacting with every blow. Prograis is coming forward again but just needs to get cuter with his work.
Taylor is minutes from victory on my card.
Round 10: Prograis 92-98 Taylor
Prograis is cut to the eye and continues to take a lot of punishment, but is dishing out his own back. He is landing second every time however - and that may well just be the difference.
I have to give that to Taylor too.
Round 11: Prograis 102-107 Taylor
A good, close round. Taylor is now cut to his right eye and he took the most punishment he has yet - again landing punches of his own.
I’d give that one to the American as we enter the final round of the fight.
Round 12: Prograis 112-116 Taylor
A good round to close out the fight for Prograis and what a 12 round war it was!
By my card, Prograis did enough.
We await the judges' scorecards...
