Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley weigh in ahead of rematch

Jake Paul knocked out Tyron Woodley in spectacular fashion on Saturday night, beating the former UFC champion for the second time in four months.

The knockout came in the sixth round of the pair’s boxing rematch in Tampa, Florida, as YouTube star Paul outdid his split-decision victory over Woodley from August, remaining undefeated in the process. Woodley, 39, was immediately more active than he was in the pair’s first fight, but Paul took the centre of the ring, worked his jab well and threw smart hooks to the body. Paul’s best moments came via double-jab set-ups, but the 24-year-old faced some adversity as he was cut on his forehead by an accidental elbow and Woodley landed two heavy right hands in quick succession – to the excitement of the Tampa crowd.

Woodley received a warning in the fourth round for throwing Paul to the canvas to break a clinch, perhaps out of frustration as the internet sensation neutralised more and more entries by grabbing hold of the wrestling specialist. Indeed, there was less and less boxing and increasingly more grappling on display as the fight passed its halfway mark, with those in attendance audibly growing frustrated by the lack of action. That all changed with 48 seconds left in the sixth round, however, as Paul took out Woodley with a sudden, vicious overhand right. Woodley fell face-first to the mat as the bout was waved off, Paul improving his professional boxing record to 5-0.

Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley: Williams vs Gore latest

“I’m gonna sit down and let the professionals do their s**,” says a tired Deron Williams. “I’m sure I looked terrible out there. Once you get out there, all your training goes out the window. I’m one-and-done. I just wanted to get out here and prove that I could do this. Hats off to Frank, we’re both winners tonight.”

Williams and Gore share a hug in the corner - they will both have learned a lesson in the physical effort of a four-round fight tonight.

Overall though, that was a fairly clumsy slug-fest.

Let’s see how the judges scored it.

As the fourth and final round gets underway, the same is still true: anything could happen here.

Or so you would think... instead, after the huge effort of rounds two and three, the pace slows.

I don’t think either fighter has anything left to give.

The bell sounds without a further significant punch - but there was plenty of excitement earlier in the bout, it peaked a bit too soon.

Williams comes out swinging at the start of the third - pushing Gore into the header before catching him with a big swinging punch.

Gore gets the count but he’s hanging in there.

Both Williams and Gore look absolutely done, unsteady on their feet and a punch away from the win - and there’s still another round to go.

And now it’s Gore who sends Williams sprawling into the ropes!

“Keep it clean, gentlemen,” says the referee. Both fighters are looking weak on their fight as they land wild swings on each other!

Williams then sends Gore falling to the canvas - both look dead on their feet!

There were some wild punches thrown in that round, while Williams definitely pushed Gore over.

But look at this from Gore - he gets in tight and sends Williams staggering with a powerful combination.

Williams goes on the attack with a flurry of punches that sends Gore crashing into the ropes!

It looks like Gore was pushed - and he seems to be hurt after the fall.

But Williams then connects with a swinging punch, that sends Gore stumbling!

The former NFL star recovers to reach the bell - but Williams had the better of that opening round.

And here comes Frank Gore, the NFL running back great and third leading rusher in the league’s history. He comes out in Tampa wearing a jacket representing the teams he played for in his football career.

Gore, 38, still had offers in the NFL when he accepted this fight and insisted he is fine with being the underdog against the bigger Williams - even though both fighters are making their debuts tonight.

“I’ve been an underdog all my life. I’ve been raised in a one-bedroom apartment with 12 people, and I overcame that, so I’m OK with that,” Gore said.

“I’ve been an underdog when I blew out my knees, saying I won’t make it to the NFL. I overcame that. They said I’d be in the NFL for three years, but 16 years later, I’m third on the NFL all-time rushing list, so me hearing ‘underdog,’ I’m cool with it. That’s what gives me that drive I’ve got today in life.”
