Tommy Fury shoves Jake Paul after going nose-to-nose at weigh-in ahead of Riyadh fight

Follow live reaction after Jake Paul lost to rival Tommy Fury in an exhibition boxing match in Saudi Arabia this evening.

A close contest over eight rounds went to the judges’ scorecards and Fury won two of the three, with Paul taking the other verdict, giving the Briton a split decision victory.

The build-up to this bout was heated, with Paul leaking the news of the birth of Fury’s baby Bambi before the 23-year-old and his partner Molly-Mae Hague could make an announcement, while both fighters promised a knockout win. It all came to a head this week when Fury shoved Paul at a tense weigh-in, and the men settled their rivalry in Diriyah tonight.

Paul vowed to enact his rematch clause after the fight, and Fury said he was ready to do it all again too.

A short right hand lands for Jack, right on the chin of Makabu. The cruiserweights then exchange uppercuts in close.

Mike Tyson is interviewed at ringside between rounds, with his voice broadcast around the arena. Very odd, especially as the interview ends after the next round has begun.

Makabu is really growing into this bout. He gets on the front foot and throws an uppercut to the body, then a left hook to the head as Jack covers up.

The fighters trade simultaneous hooks, and Makabu hits the canvas! The champion beats the referee’s count, but he needs to fight sensibly in this final minute of the round.

Makabu throws a couple of clubbing right hooks now.

Makabu tries to respond to Jack’s tactic in kind, targeting the body of his challenger.

The South African burrows a left hook into Jack’s ribs. Still, Jack is light on his feet.

But Makabu lands hooks off both wings, and Jack briefly retreats!

Makabu just misses with an uppercut now, as Jack leans back to evade.

Makabu is starting to find his rhythm, but Jack is still the slicker, faster fighter right now. He finds more success to the body.

Makabu is the one pressing forward now, at least. He eats another right hook to the midriff.

But a better end to the round from the champion, who puts together a decent combination.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Mike Tyson are among the famous faces at the Diriyah Arena in Riyadh for Jake Paul’s highly-anticipated bout with Tommy Fury.

Ronaldo is in attendance fresh from scoring a hat-trick for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr on Saturday, and the 38-year-old has been pictured sitting with his son ahead of the fight.

Tyson is one of several former and reigning heavyweight world champions in attendance, alongside Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, the older half-brother of Tommy.

Other boxers at the event include New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker, Britain’s Derek Chisora, America’s undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney, and former welterweight world champion Shawn Porter.

Comedian Kevin Hart has also been spotted ringside.

Jack takes the centre of the ring early, but there’s little output from either fighter through the first minute.

Makabu then wings a right overhand, but Jack sees it coming and raises his guard.

Jack slings a right hook into the mid-section of Makabu, and the champion steps back while wincing slightly.

More forward pressure from Jack, who just about connects with a right hook up top.

Good head movement now from Makabu, but he’s struggling for accuracy.
