Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Follow the latest updates live from New York where Callum Smith takes on Hassan N'Dam as he defends his WBA super-middleweight championship for the first time.

The Liverpudlian is one of the brightest British prospects and heads to America following his comprehensive victory over George Groves in Saudi Arabia last year, and an impressive showing at Madison Square Garden could put him in the frame to face the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin.

N’Dam will be no pushover as he arrives as a former middleweight champion, but Smith heads into the fight as the favourite and will be expected to put on a show after nine months away from the ring. Follow the live updates below.

Josh Kelly vs Ray Robinson round 10:

Lovely combination work from Kelly in that round, who leads with his jab and follows up with some body punches - for the second time in as many rounds, Robinson looks hurt. He held on but looked unsteady throughout.

A convincing 10th and final round for Kelly, who should edge this one despite Robinson climbing to the top rope and celebrating.

We await the scorecards...

Kelly, perhaps for the first time in his career, looks a bit concerned.

Scores incoming.

The scores are in...

96-95 Kelly

95-95 draw

95-95 draw

A majority decision draw. Disappointment for Josh Kelly in New York.

Up next, an undisputed fight.

Katie Taylor faces Delfine Persoon for the lightweight WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and Ring magazine belts.

Huge.

Anthony Joshua speaking backstage

I hope you enjoyed the football and now you're ready for the boxing. I'm not someone who needs to get in the zone, I'm always in the zone. There's a lot of good energy in the building.

Disappointment for Josh Kelly as he fails to impress at Madison Square Garden.

Adam Hamdani2 June 2019 01:34

With a record of 43-1, Delfine Persoon looks set to be the hardest test of Katie Taylor's thus far successful and short career.

Ring walks are imminent.

Adam Hamdani2 June 2019 01:43

Katie Taylor enters the ring looking as serious as ever, to huge cheers from a packed out crowd.

U2's I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For a good choice for the ring walk.

Adam Hamdani2 June 2019 01:49

Here we go! 10 rounds of undisputed world title boxing.
