Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Donald Trump delivered his latest rally in Uniondale on Long Island, New York, on Wednesday, pledging to “bring back religion” to thank God for saving his life, suggesting he was a bigger star than Elvis Presley, joking that he has not read his wife Melania Trump’s new memoir and asking New Yorkers to vote for him by saying: “What the hell do you have to lose?”

The Republican nominee also pledged to visit Springfield, Ohio, after he and running mate JD Vance spread a bogus story about Haitian immigrants stealing and eating residents’ pets, inspiring a spate of bomb threats.

Before Trump’s event began, local police were forced to shut down false claims that a car filled with explosives had been found close to the Nassau Coliseum where the candidate was speaking.

Meanwhile, a fresh poll from Quinnipiac University has placed his Democratic rival Kamala Harris ahead in two key swing states – Pennsylvania and Michigan – and more narrowly ahead in another, Wisconsin.

Elsewhere, Trump has accused Harris of colluding with Iran to spy on his campaign after the FBI revealed Tehran-backed hackers had attempted to pass stolen material onto the Democratic ticket.

Fake story claiming Kamala Harris was involved in a hit-and-run was created by Russian troll farm: Microsoft

A Russian troll farm was behind false claims Kamala Harris was involved in a 2011 hit-and-run accident and other inflammatory stories that spread online, according to a report from the Microsoft Threat Analysis Center.

A Kremlin-aligned group, dubbed Storm-1516 in the report, created a fake San Francisco-area website in August to publish a video featuring a paid actor talking about the alleged incident.

In the video, a young Black woman claimed she “cannot remain silent anymore.”

Myriam Page has the story.

Flying with Harris’s running-mate — and trailing him from campaign event to campaign event, all while trying to get a reaction to breaking news — can be a surreal affair, as Andrew Feinberg reports.

Kentucky rape survivor hits out at Trump for overturning Roe in powerful new Harris ad

Kentucky rape survivor Hadley Duvall narrates a new ad for the Harris campaign in which she severely criticizes former President Donald Trump for the overturning of Roe v Wade.

During his term in the White House, Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices who voted for the overturning of the landmark 1973 ruling which made abortion a constitutionally protected right. It was overturned in the summer of 2022.

In the ad, Duvall speaks about how she was abused by her stepfather from the age of five, and how he impregnated her at the age of 12 before Roe was overturned.

Duvall said this meant she “had options.”

JD Vance makes the press part of his show as he doubles down on his attacks on migrants in North Carolina

Adirty secret about Senator JD Vance that probably would not endear him to the MAGA faithful is that on Capitol Hill, Donald Trump’s running mate is fairly friendly to reporters of all stripes.

The bestselling author is more than comfortable talking to the press and frequently lets reporters ride the elevator with him on his way to votes. Indeed, he’s shown himself willing to go on the Sunday shows to defend his Trump and his lie about pets being eaten by Haitian migrants.

But on the campaign trail as Trump’s top surrogate, the Ohio senator does something different. During his rally at Union Station in Raleigh, North Carolina, a crucial swing state, Vance dinged his boss’s opponent Kamala Harris for only doing two sitdown interviews since she became the Democratic nominee for president.

Trump’s running mate likes to say he’ll ‘take as many questions as we have time for,’ to create a contrast with Kamala Harris. But reporting in Raleigh, Eric Garcia notes the other purpose

Iranian hackers sent Biden campaign stolen Trump materials in unsolicited emails, FBI says

This summer, Iranian hackers sent materials stolen from the Trump campaign to people associated with the Biden campaign as well as media outlets, according to U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

“Iranian malicious cyber actors in late June and early July sent unsolicited emails to individuals then associated with President Biden’s campaign that contained an excerpt taken from stolen, non-public material from former President Trump’s campaign as text in the emails,” according to a joint statement from the FBI, Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), obtained by The Hill.

“There is currently no information indicating those recipients replied,” the agencies added.
