Travelling on Air Force One, the president took to Twitter to rage about the numerous books published by former officials and his niece, Mary Trump, that cast him in an unflattering light.
He also railed against claims the Democratic National Convention got higher TV ratings then the Republican equivalent.
Mr Trump's outbursts came amid the continuing coronavirus crisis in the US, which has now seen more than six million confirmed cases - far more than any other country worldwide.

Police in Kenosha swoop on food servers amid protests
Police officers in Kenosha were on alert after days of protests over the shooting of Jacob Blake by one of their colleagues, and they'd recently gotten a tip about “suspicious vehicles” from out of state.
So, after watching a group of people fill cans at a gas station Wednesday and then hop into a minivan with Oregon plates, the officers sped in. A bystander's video shows officers leaping out of black SUVs with guns drawn. About 25 seconds later, an officer shatters the van's passenger-side window with her baton, unlocks its door and pulls a person out.
The group turned out to be members of Riot Kitchen, a Seattle-based organization that serves food at demonstrations. Jennifer Scheurle, a member of its board of directors, said they were filling up gas cans to power a generator for their food truck.
The nine taken into custody in the SWAT-style operation Wednesday were among dozens of people arrested this week in the Wisconsin city. The arrests have highlighted activists' complaints that police have been responding to protests over the white officer's shooting that left Blake, a Black man, paralyzed, even as they've tolerated armed militia groups.
The Riot Kitchen members were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct, but all were free by Friday morning.

‘I am not a Trump supporter’: NYC tenants say they weren’t told interviews were for RNC video
Three of the public housing tenants who appeared in a video played at the Republican National Convention this week have said they didn’t know the purpose of their on-camera interviews and that they do not support Donald Trump.
Four New York City residents were interviewed for four hours by Lynne Patton, the head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development region that covers the city, and a Trump appointee.
They spoke about poor conditions in their buildings and blamed Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio in a two minute video that aired during Thursday’s convention programming.

Judge rules in favour of Trump campaign over absentee ballots
A second Iowa judge has ruled in favour of President Donald Trump's campaign and ordered a county to invalidate at least 14,000 absentee ballot requests.
In his ruling issued Friday evening, Judge Patrick Tott found that Woodbury County elections commissioner Patrick Gill acted improperly when he sent absentee ballot request forms to 57,000 registered voters that had their personal information filled in. About 14,000 have been returned so far.
The Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee, the Iowa Republican Party and other GOP groups filed lawsuits against three Iowa counties, arguing they were trying to enhance voting security. Democrats have said Republicans want to limit mail-in voting, noting Trump has repeatedly said without proof that such voting was open to fraud.
Gill added the information to make it easier for voters to apply for absentee ballots, but the judge ruled it violated a directive from Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate, a Republican, who ordered that forms be left blank when mailed to voters to ensure statewide uniformity.
The decision came a day after another judge ruled that Linn County officials also had violated the secretary of state's directive, voiding about 50,000 requests that had been returned.
County officials now must tell voters their ballot applications won't be processed, so they can either resubmit forms or vote in-person on 3 November.

En route to Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Orange, Texas
Donald Trump is currently on Air Force One en route to visit the region hardest hit by Hurricane Laura — western Louisiana and eastern Texas.
He will "survey storm damage and receive briefings on emergency operations and ongoing relief efforts," per a tweet yesterday by deputy press secretary Judd Deere.
The president was seen ascending the steps of AF1 reportedly carrying a red MAGA hat and an umbrella, per the pool report.
Joining the president on this trip are Acting Department of Homeland Security secretary Chad Wolf, Louisiana representative Mike Johnson, counsellor to the president Hope Hicks, and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
The president is scheduled to arrive in Lake Charles just after 12pm local time and spend approximately two hours there before heading on to Orange, Texas.
To hammer home his earlier tweets about the "real" convention viewing figures and money raised. Trump has now pinned this new ad to the top of his feed.
In an inflight tweet, Trump taunts Joe Biden about his supposed "slow reaction time" regarding being out on the road campaigning.
'Major' endorsements from Minnesota mayors
The president is very pleased to have been endorsed by six mayors in Minnesota who in a letter say that they no longer recognise the Democratic Party — definitely the very trend that sent Trump to the White House in 2016. Together they govern a population of approximately 25,000 people.
The RCP polling average currently has Biden ahead in Minnesota by 5.3 percentage points.
