Donald Trump sent Vladimir Putin Covid-19 test kits at the height of the pandemic, according to a new book by veteran Watergate journalist Bob Woodward. The former president also spoke with the Russian leader as many as seven times after leaving the White House, it alleges.
The Trump campaign has called the stories “made up” and Woodward “demented and deranged” and a “sleazebag”.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris sat down with the co-hosts of ABC’s The View on Tuesday morning to discuss the campaign and her proposal for Medicare to cover at-home care for seniors.
The Democrat nominee is undertaking a media blitz, having appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Monday on which she was pressed on her economic plan, US support for Ukraine and Israel, and her experiences as a gun owner.
Harris also appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show for a lengthy, wide-ranging interview and later is a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her running mate Tim Walz was also grilled on 60 Minutes and made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.
Trump will appear on Ben Shapiro’s show today.

The tech mogul made it clear he has no regrets over his X post pondering why no one had tried to assassinate Kamala Harris or Joe Biden, when he sat down for an interview with Tucker Carlson on Monday night.
On Sunday September 15, the CEO of X, Tesla and SpaceX sparked outrage when he responded to a social media post about the second alleged assassination attempt on Trump.
“Why they want to kill Donald Trump?” the post read.
“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” Musk responded, followed by the pondering face emoji.

The Democratic nominee took a moment during her travels yesterday to hit out at her rival over his insistence that she and Joe Biden are ignoring voters in swing states like Georgia and North Carolina hit by Hurricane Helene, which is simply not true, also hitting out at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis too for good measure.
Trump, of course, responded on Truth Social by simply repeating the slur, writing:
“Lyin’ Kamala has left the people of North Carolina STRANDED. Hope they remember at the Ballot Box!”

Speaking on Tuesday (7 October), the vice president said: “I cannot stress enough to all the folks in Florida, in the Tampa area, please listen to evacuation orders. Please listen to your local officials because I know a lot of folks out there have survived these hurricanes before. This one is going to be very, very serious.”

Trump falsely claims to have been to Gaza and says migrants have ‘bad genes’
In a radio interview with conservative Hugh Hewitt yesterday, Trump falsely claimed to have been to Gaza.
The Republican presidential nominee said he had “been there” and suggested it could have been “one of the best places in the world” and “even better than Monaco” had resident Palestinians taken advantage of its Mediterranean coastal location by building luxury resorts.
Questioned about the claim, his campaign curtly told The New York Times: “Gaza is in Israel. President Trump has been to Israel.”
Far worse were his latest thoughts on migrants, which Michelle Del Rey reports below.

The Republican presidential nominee hosted an event commemorating the October 7 attack on Israel in Florida last night, paying his respects while also complaining about lacklustre Jewish support for his campaign and dancing to “YMCA” by The Village People – conduct at odds with the solemnity of the occasion.
“October 7 was not just the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Trump told his guests.
“It was not just the worst terror attack since 9/11. It was an attack on humanity itself. It was a hideous, incredible cruelty. It was chilling savagery. It was demonic delight.”
“It seemed as if the gates of hell had sprung open and unleashed their horrors upon the world,” he added.

Vice President Kamala Harris appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Monday night and was pressed on her economic plan, American support for Ukraine and Israel and her experiences as a gun owner.
“I believe that the people of America want a leader who is not trying to divide us and demean,” the Democratic presidential nominee said of rival Donald Trump.
Harris will continue her media blitz on Tuesday, with appearances set for ABC’s The View, Howard Stern’s radio show and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
