President’s third Cabinet meeting taking place as tensions rise over Usha Vance’s upcoming visit to Greenland
President Donald Trump denied any knowledge of an incident in which senior officials in his administration, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance, reportedly discussed a highly sensitive operation aimed at targeting Houthi positions in Yemen in a group chat that inadvertently included Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief of The Atlantic.
When asked about the security breach, the president attacked the publication as “going out of business.”
The story broke as Trump held his third known cabinet meeting amid legal challenges over immigration, looming new tariffs, and rising tensions over the work of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Elon Musk was in attendance what was described beforehand as a “follow-up on the last DOGE meeting” in early March, in which the president limited the billionaire tycoon’s authority amid a reported backlash against cuts to federal agencies.
Cabinet secretaries took turns to say what cuts they had made to spending and government programs in their departments.

O’Donnell, who has a long-running feud with Trump, raised her suspicions about the president’s resounding victory in November during an appearance on RTE’s The Late Late Show with Patrick Kielty.

McMahon pressed on how Trump will dismantle Department of Education
Trump’s Education Secretary Linda McMahon defended the dismantling of the Department of Education yesterday but pledged to work with others to reshape federal oversight of education.
“President Trump has said he will move things in accordance with the law and in cooperation with Congress,” the secretary told CNN’s Dana Bash on State of the Union.
“We will work with Congress, we will partner with Congress,” said the secretary. “We will find out where the law’s…”
Bash then interjected, noting that the Trump administration would have to “change the law” to reorganize or end programs overseen by the Department of Education.
“Not necessarily,” responded McMahon.
“We are going to look to see how we are governed [as an agency]. If we need to change the law, if we have to work with Congress, if Congress doesn’t agree, we’ll find out. We’ll find out.”

Having previously blustered that he doesn’t care what judges think, Tom Homan struck a much more conciliatory tone yesterday, telling Jonathan Karl on ABC: “I understand this case is in litigation through the Alien Enemies Act, and we’ll abide by the court order as litigated.”
Trump has just posted a segment from this same interview on Truth Social, suggesting he endorses Homan’s rhetorical climbdown.

As talks over a ceasefire in Ukraine get underway in Saudi Arabia, the president’s top diplomat on the job has been full of praise for the Russian leader.
Witkoff – like Trump, a former real estate mogul – met with Putin in Moscow for a second time on Thursday for talks on ending the war.
Speaking to far-right commentator Tucker Carlson, the envoy said he “liked” the Russian president, who he described as “gracious”.
“I don’t regard Putin as a bad guy,” he added. “He’s super smart.”

White House ‘seeking corporate sponsor’ for annual Easter Egg Roll
The White House is reportedly planning to offer corporate sponsorships for its annual Easter Egg Roll in April, breaking decades of tradition that keep public office and private profits separate.
In a nine-page document, obtained by CNN, the White House and Harbinger, an event production company based in D.C., are offering sponsorships ranging from $75,000 to $200,000 with opportunities for branding and marketing for the annual event, intended as a simple treat for children.
Prospective sponsors reportedly also have the chance to have their logos featured on event signage, “naming rights for key areas or elements,” custom-branded baskets, branded snacks or beverages, mentions in social media posts and press releases and can access an “invite-only brunch” hosted by First Lady Melania Trump.
