From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

George Clooney has revealed he has been cutting his own hair for 25 years – and he’s a fan of Flowbee, the vacuum cleaner attachment for at-home haircuts.

The actor shared that part of his grooming routine in a new interview with CBS This Morning.

“I’ve been cutting my own hair for 25 years,” he said. “My hair is like straw and so it’s easy to cut. You can’t really make too many mistakes. So years ago, I bought a thing called a Flowbee.”

Interviewer Tracy Smith was awed to hear that the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker has been using a product famously touted in infomercials.

“You did not!” she said.

“The thing with the vacuum cleaner and clippers, yeah. I still have it,” Clooney replied. “My haircuts take, literally, two minutes. ”

“Is this Flowbee?” Smith asked of Clooney’s current haircut. “Yeah, it’s Flowbee,” he confirmed.

Flowbee sales seemed to surge when the coronavirus pandemic limited access to salon and barber shops in some areas, Fortune magazine reported in late March.  Clooney, however, told Smith he first became familiar with the device as a child.

The Flowbee, first marketed in the late 1980s, has become entrenched in popular culture. It was spoofed in the movie “Wayne's World" and served as a punchline in the TV shows Glee and The Nanny.
