A second man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead in east London, Sunday.

Police were called to an address in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets, just before 8:30am on 24 January following concerns about the welfare of a woman who was at the property.

The woman, thought to have been in her 30s or 40s, was found unresponsive by police.

Police administered CPR until paramedics from the London Ambulance Service arrived but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim is believed to have suffered various injuries, including stab wounds.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement saying that they have now arrested two men in connection with murder. The first, a man believed to be in his 30s, is now in custody in an east London police station.

Police announced that a second suspect had been arrested Monday. The 24-year-old man is being held in a police station in south London.

It is thought that the deceased and the two suspects knew each other.

An investigation is being carried out and detectives believe they know the identity of the deceased. Police say they are working to inform next of kin and that a post-mortem will be scheduled.
