Jay Slater’s father has made an emotional plea for his missing son to return home as he joins the search for him in Tenerife.

Speaking through tears alongside Jay’s brother Zak on the seventh day of the search, Warren Slater, 58, said: “I just want the boy back.”

The pair were also joined by nine of Jay’s friends in Masca, which is where search and rescue personnel have been scouring after the 19-year-old was last seen there on Monday morning.

Jay’s mother, Debbie Duncan also issued the following direct plea to her son on Saturday: “We just need you home.”

The message comes as the official fundraiser launched to help the apprentice bricklayer hit its £30,000 target. As of Sunday afternoon, almost 3,000 people had donated to the GoFundMe page.

Authorities have been searching for Jay since Monday after he called his friend at around 8.15am, to say he was lost, dehydrated and had one per cent phone battery.

His last known location, which was pinged from his phone at 8:50am, placed him on a path in the mountainous terrain of the Rural de Teno national park.

Nicola Bulley detective offers to assist Jay Slater search

A detective who worked on both the Nicola Bulley case has offered to assist the search for missing teenager Jay Slater.

Mark Williams-Thomas said he has “reached out” to Jay’s mother Debbie Duncan as the search for the 19-year-old continued into its seventh day in Tenerife.

He wrote on X: “I have this morning reached out to missing Jay Slater’s mum offering the help of my team to get her answers as to what has happened to her son.

‘Lots of speculation about what could have happened and if they give me total access and with feet on the ground I will very quickly be able to say if his disappearance is him alone or if it has third party involvement.”

On Sunday, 23 June, Spanish authorities circled two structures at the bottom of a ravine in Rural de Teno Park. Guardia Civil officers appeared to solely focus on one area after days of searching for the 19-year-old in the village of Masca and the surrounding landscape. Mr Slater, from Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, disappeared following an attempt to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus and was last heard from on Monday morning. He had attended the NRG music festival on the island with two friends before he went missing.

The mother of Jay Slater has said she has “not slept” since the 19-year-old disappeared on the Canary Island of Tenerife.

Asked how the family was coping with the situation, Debbie Duncan, 55, said: “We’re not. I’m not coping very well at all.

“I’ve not slept, I’m exhausted. It’s been awful.”

“I can’t give up on him, I just can’t.”

She also said she did not know whether the Spanish authorities turning down an offer of help from the UK was because they viewed it as “an insult”.

Jay Slater’s employer has said the “picture being painted of him is just not true”.

Construction company PH Build Group said in a statement issued on Facebook: “Our Jay is still missing!

“We have decided to remove our last post due to all the negative comments and conspiracy theories.

“Jay has been with us since he left school and is liked by all. He’s a valued member of our team and we stand by him.

“The picture being painted of him is just not true.

“The fact is he’s a 19-year-old lad missing in a foreign country. He needs to be back home where he belongs. Come on Jay we are all praying for you.”

Investigators scour area by isolated farm and comb through rubbish in search

Emergency service workers have been seen scouring an area by an isolated farm and combing through rubbish in their search for missing Jay Slater.

The 19-year-old stayed the night in a remote Airbnb in the village of Masca before he disappeared.

Investigators have been seen searching the farm buildings and land near the property in recent days, with the hopes of finding clues to the teenager’s whereabouts.

New footage has emerged appearing to show Jay Slater dancing topless at a rave hours before he disappeared on the Spanish island of Tenerife.

The two-minute-40-second clip shared on TikTok is claimed to have been filmed at 1am on Monday.

It is unclear whether the teenager had his top on or not, with later images seeming to show he did have it on.
