Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Bobbi Kristina Brown has been moved to a hospice, five months after suffering irreversible brain damage and being medically induced in a coma.

The only child of the late Whitney Houston was found face down and unresponsive in a bath tub at her Georgia home in January.

She was placed in a medically induced coma shortly after, but her father told fans in April "my baby's awake". Initial reports suggested she may not survive.

A statement issued by the Houston family on Wednesday said: “Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition has continued to deteriorate. As of today, she has been moved into hospice care. She is in God’s hands now.”

There have been conflicting accounts of her health from both sides of her family since she was hospitalised. The Brown family lawyers have previously discouraged people from believing certain statements coming from the Houston family, as they have not got permission to visit Bobbi.

Nick Gordon, her then boyfriend who found her at the time, has since been hit with a $10 million lawsuit filed on Wednesday. He is accused of causing her life-threatening injuries and stealing from her bank account while she was in a coma, reports Reuters.
