Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Britain is to get its own version of The Osbournes with a fly-on-the-wall television documentary charting singer Shaun Ryder's attempts to recover from drink and drug addiction.

The former Happy Mondays frontman is to star in a BBC3 documentary by Richard Macer, who made a series of films about the glamour model Jordan.

Macer began following Ryder in the summer and is still filming him. The film documents his attempts to adopt a healthy lifestyle and promote a new album.

The singer remains on the verge of bankruptcy. He hit rock bottom about a year ago, while living in Australia. He haddrug problems, his assets were frozen and he was involved in a litigation battle with a former manager.

The Osbournes, produced by MTV, followed Ozzy Osbourne and his family in their Los Angeles mansion.

Osbourne is currently recovering in hospital after a quad bike accident on his Buckinghamshire estate on Monday. Reports yesterday suggested that the accident was also filmed by MTV. Last night, Osbourne was still on a ventilator with a fractured vertebra, eight fractured ribs and a broken collar bone.
