Liam Hemsworth files for divorce from Miley Cyrus
The Hunger Games actor cited 'irreconcilable differences'
Just a week after announcing their separation, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have officially filed for divorce.
On Wednesday, Hemsworth filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to People.
The couple, who announced they would be separating on 10 August, reportedly have a prenuptial agreement.
In a statement to People following news the couple had broken up, a representative for Cyrus confirmed that the couple had parted ways.
“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement said. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners, and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and [their] careers.
“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart.”
Days after the news, Hemsworth took to Instagram to acknowledge the separation, captioning a picture of a sunset: “Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.”
Cyrus also appeared to acknowledge the split on her Instagram, where she wrote about evolution and “respecting the process”.
“I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own…” she wrote.
