Bookies have revealed that the number of bets on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex having a baby boy is skyrocketing.
It is possible that the flurry of bets has been prompted by the news of an alleged leak of potential names for the baby.
Royal fans thought they may have spotted monikers being considered for the child when they discovered that certain URLs, such as https://www.royal.uk/prince-arthur, redirected to the royal family's homepage on its official website.
According to Ladbrokes, Arthur is currently the top name of choice for the couple should they have a boy.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “A baby girl has been the favourite since Harry and Meghan announced their pregnancy, however, it's now a little boy that we're seeing an influx of bets for.
"Time will soon tell which set of royal fans are on the money, but this last minute gamble on a boy could prove to be a case of perfect timing.”
Chris Ship, royal editor for ITV News, has dismissed suggestions that the Duchess of Sussex could be in labour.
Speculation began after a BBC reported spotted a private ambulance driving through Windsor with a police escort.
"It went in the front entrance," Ship wrote on Twitter.
"Anything for Meghan would never go that way."
The Duchess of Sussex, who is due to welcome her first child with Prince Harry any day now, opened up about her parenting aspirations in an interview released a few years ago.
In 2014, Meghan Markle told The Brew: "I dream to be a mum with wee ones running around my house."
She added that she hoped “to one day have a cooking show, to continue working on social issues at a global level, to run a marathon, to see this glorious world and to stay grounded, grateful and open-hearted.”
One of the most pressing questions surrounding the arrival of the royal baby is whether it will be a UK or a US citizen, or have dual citizenship.
While it hasn’t been confirmed what citizenship the baby will be born with, current laws dictate that Markle and Prince Harry will be able to apply for dual citizenship for their child.
As the child of Prince Harry, the royal baby will automatically be a British citizen, due to its father’s UK citizenship.
And according to the US Department of State, a baby born outside the United States to one American parent can also acquire US citizenship if said parent has been present in the country prior to the birth for at least five years.
It is yet to be confirmed where the Duchess of Sussex will give birth with reports suggesting possible locations as the Lindo Wing at Mary's Hospital, Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey or her home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
Since the 1970s, several members of the royal family have given birth at the Lindo Wing beginning with Princess Anne in 1977, who was shortly followed by Diana, Princess of Wales in 19821 and Kate Middleton in 2013.
However, not all royal family members have delivered their babies here. Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew chose to welcome both their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, into the world at the Portland Hospital.
In addition to the unborn baby's gender, name and title, royal fans are also placing bets regarding who will be named as the godparents.
According to People magazine, bookmakers Ladbrokes has revealed the Duke of Sussex's friend Charlie Van Straubenzee is being considered the most likely choice for godfather, with 8/1 odds.
For the baby's godmother, fans think the duchess will bestow the honour on her friend Jessica Mulroney, who is leading the way with 3/1 odds.
Bookmakers are taking bets on who will be named godparents of the royal baby
In celebration of Princess Charlotte's fourth birthday today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are hosting a party.
Prince William jokingly predicted the party will be "rowdy" to author Julia Donaldson during a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony, according to royal correspondent Rebecca English.
Despite claims suggesting the newest royal has already been born, it appears we still have a wait to go as Buckingham Palace has denied the rumours.
"The baby hasn't been born yet," a spokesperson told E! News Thursday.
Earlier in her pregnancy, the Duchess of Sussex said her first child was due around the end of April or beginning of May.
Princess Charlotte has received birthday wishes from most of the royal family today.
In addition to an Instagram comment from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wishing the four-year-old a happy birthday, the young princess also received well-wishes from Prince Charles and Camilla, who wrote on the official Clarence House Twitter account: "A very Happy Birthday to Princess Charlotte, who turns four today."
In honour of Princess Charlotte's birthday, the palace shared three photographs of her taken by her mother, the Duchess of Cambridge.
↵As royal fans continue to guess what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will choose to name their firstborn, bookmakers have continued to see odds in favour of Diana, in honour of Prince Harry's late mother.
According to Paddy Power, Diana is currently leading the way with 3/1 odds. However, Grace is not far behind, at 7/1 odds.
Other names predicted if the baby is a girl include Alice, Isobella, Victoria and Allegra, which was reportedly a favourite of Princess Diana's.
