Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Skouras Saint George, Nemea 2011
This wonderfully balanced bottle is simple proof of the massive advances in Greek wine-making in recent years – succulent, medium-bodied, with some smoky, mouth-filling, raspberry and cherry fruits. The obvious choice for moussaka or any grilled lamb with rosemary. £13.30, tanners-wines.co.uk
Midweek meal
Les Grands Chemins Marsanne Viognier 2013 Pays d'Oc
In contrast to other blends of these two very different grapes, the creamy but spicy Marsanne here dominates the Viognier, which provides a floral underpinning of apricots and honeysuckle. Scallops are the ideal match, but this also works with Asian-style fish or chicken dishes. £8.99, virginwines.co.uk
Bargain basement
Rocca Vecchia Falanghina 2013
A white from Puglia that is, like most of the reds for which the area is better known, excellent value for money. Surprisingly full-bodied, very refreshing and very dry, it is bursting with lemon-edged flavours of melons, apples and pears, with a subtle, herby touch. £6.99, Co-op stores
