As ever, the sequel of fashion’s favourite film must have cameos from the industry’s real-life personalities, and according to E!Online Kloss is “definitely on board” after American model Gigi Hadid turned the role down.
The 22-year-old is set to make her big screen debut and other models have been short-listed to make a cameo, including Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne. But it is Delevingne, who’s already made her acting debut on TV and films, who’s the most likely to be featured. She even posted on Instagram a photo with the pair and wrote: “I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really really ridiculously good looking... And I plan on finding out what that is!”
Zoolander 2 was announced on Tuesday after actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson (Derek and Hansel respectively) appeared on the catwalk striking their infamous “blue-steel” pose for Valentino autumn/winter 2015 show during Paris Fashion Week, causing a stir in the French capital.
Last month 6ft in tall Kloss announced her departure from Victoria’s Secret after three years working for the lingerie brand due to her busy schedule, which is filled with new contracts such as L’Oreal and now, an acting gig.
The original Zoolander, which was released in 2001 - almost 15 years ago,- was packed with cameos from top designers including Tom Ford, Donatella Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, Tommy Hilfilger and top models including Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum and Tyson Beckford .
But for the sequel, which is set to hit cinemas in February 2016, Anna Wintour is the woman many are expecting to see. US Vogue posted a video of the editor-in-chief popping backstage the Valentino show to give the pair a prep talk, when Derek Zoolander tells her (while filming himself, Hansel and Wintour with a selfie-stick): “I'm going to keep it simple today. Usually I go right left right left right left, but today I'm going to start left in honour of how the sun rotates.”
